Here is a graphic example of how a large asymmetric bone can, with care, be balanced over its center of mass using a pad of white modeling clay to support the base. In this case, the bone is a largeEdmontosaurus scapula (shoulder blade) with the coracoid (the small bone at the bottom) still attached. The bone will have to be stable in this position long enough for the table to rotate 360 degrees (about 3 minutes). In this particular case, the bone did start to fall part way through the circuit, but Carolina was easily able to catch it and restore it to vertical. Fortunately this is a rare occurrence.
